Sidus, the music project of bassist Spiros Olivotos (based in Berlin), is now a full line-up band and has revealed their new EP “Seismos”, released on 16 / 6 / 2023 via Argonauta Records.
“Seismos” is a concept album comprising three songs that explore the theme of earthquakes.
These powerful natural phenomena are metaphorically linked to the individual fear and shock experienced during a panic attack. The album not only showcases the awe-inspiring beauty of these cataclysmic events but also raises awareness about mental health issues.
The songs vividly portray the genesis (“Rupture”), the path (“Seismic Wave”), and the expression (“Seismos”) of an earthquake, mirroring the three stages often associated with panic attacks.
The initial stage is characterized by a mental fog or blur, followed by the loss of control over various bodily functions, leading to a final expression, manifested as the collapse of the entire body (shivering). Despite the intensity of earthquakes and panic attacks, there is always a subsequent period of calm and realization.
The EP’s concluding moments encapsulate the hopeful sense of security that arises when control is restored and the event has passed.
Mixed and mastered by Steve Lado at SL Studio, Athens, Greece.
Drums and percussion were recorded by Kostas Milonas at Bree Studios in Athens.
